Bharati Park
Bharathi Park, formerly known as the Government Park, is a well-maintained public park located in the heart of Puducherry (Pondicherry), India. The park is named after the famous Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi, and it serves as a popular recreational area for both locals and tourists. Bharathi Park is centrally located in the White Town area of Puducherry. It is in close proximity to the Raj Nivas (the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry), Aayi Mandapam, and the French War Memorial. The park has a historical significance and was originally known as the Government Park during the French colonial period. It underwent renovations and was renamed Bharathi Park in honor of the renowned Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi. Aayi Mandapam, a prominent monument dedicated to the courtesan Aayi, is located within Bharathi Park. This monument adds to the charm and historical significance of the park. Features a dedicated children’s play area with swings, slides, and other recreational facilities, making it a family-friendly destination. The park occasionally hosts cultural events, festivals, and public gatherings. These events contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the park.
